Who Are We?

About Us

Del Oro History

Since 1995, Del Oro has been dedicated to the production of juices and concentrates of tropical fruits. Del Oro is comprised of: Inversiones Guanaranja S.A and Del Oro S.A.. Our main investor, owning 87% of the stock, is Actis / CDC , a British financial organization with a mandate to promote development in third world regions. We are the only Citrus Company in Costa Rica with 61 independent producers participating as active shareholders (since 2000) holding 13% of company shares.

We have established extensive grove operations in the border zone between Costa Rica and Nicaragua, bringing growth and economic opportunities to this region. Our plantations of oranges, the industrial plant and the compost production area, are located to the north of the central mountain range of Costa Rica, on the slopes of the Orosí volcano. Del Oro employs 240 permanent employees and more than a thousand during the citrus harvest season. The company is the main source of employment in the zone.

Del Oro exemplifies respect for the environment in all of its activities. Del Oro owns 7,000 ha. in which a perfect balance between nature and agriculture is observed, as evidence of this practice, the farms have been certificated as “conservation agriculture” by the Rainforest Alliance. Del Oro is the only citrus farm in the world to enjoy this certification. In addition, the processing plant has been certified in ISO 14001 Environmental Management since 1997.

3,000 hectares are plantations of oranges of which 750 ha. are organically certified, as such the largest “organic” farm in Central America. 4,000 hectares of company land comprise a protected wilderness area adjacent to the world famous, “Guanacaste National Forest”.
